Planet Bee Foundation Receives Grant from the Department of Food and Agriculture for the Pollinator Habitat Program

Planet Bee Foundation Receives a grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture for the Pollinator Habitat Program

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded The 2023 Pollinator Habitat Grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture for 1.3 million dollars. This grant will enable us to expand its efforts in creating and maintaining vital habitats for bees and other pollinators, addressing the critical issue of declining pollinator populations.

The CA Department of Food and Agriculture has recognized the outstanding work done by Planet Bee Foundation in the field of pollinator conservation and has chosen to support their initiatives with a generous grant. The Pollinator Habitat Program aims to establish and maintain diverse habitats across the state, providing essential forage and nesting areas for bees, butterflies, birds, and other crucial pollinators.

"We are immensely grateful to the Department of Food and Agriculture for their confidence in our organization and the Pollinator Habitat Program," said Debra Tomaszewski, Founder and Executive Director of Planet Bee Foundation. "This grant will empower us to make a substantial impact on the preservation of our pollinators, and we are excited to expand our efforts in creating thriving habitats that support the well-being of these essential creatures."

With the grant funding, Planet Bee Foundation will work closely with 20 local communities, educational institutions, and landowners to establish pollinator gardens and native plantings. The organization will also provide educational resources, workshops, and training programs to empower individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills needed to become effective stewards of pollinators.

"Pollinators play a critical role in our ecosystems, and their decline poses a significant threat to global food security and biodiversity," said John Thompson, Commissioner of the Department of Food and Agriculture. Planet Bee Foundation is excited to work with the community to restore and protect the habitats that pollinators rely on, ensuring their survival for future generations.

Planet Bee Foundation encourages individuals, businesses, and organizations passionate about pollinator conservation to join hands and support their efforts. Together, we can create a sustainable future where pollinators thrive, ecosystems flourish, and food production remains secure.
