Dr. Jamie Chan
Executive Director
Dr. Chan has a background in non-profit leadership, higher education, and STEM teacher training. She previously held positions at the California Academy of Sciences, the San Francisco State University (SFSU) Center for Science and Mathematics Education and the Gardens of Golden Gate Park. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with an M.S. and B.S. in zoology. In addtion to leading Planet Bee Foundation, Jamie is lecture faculty in the Graduate College of Education at SFSU, and co-founded Fog City Gardener, a garden education firm. She serves on the board of Foodwise and steering committes for Sisterhood Gardens, and Reimagining San Francisco. Passionate about sustainable urban agriculture and food justice, she resides in San Francisco with her partner and children, enjoying gardening, beekeeping, and urban chicken care in her spare time. Bees are a vital part of our ecosystems and serve as shining examples of how collective work makes the biggest impact on our planet. They are tiny mighty heros!
